Collingwood will kick off its 2021 VFLW campaign this Saturday, February 27 against Geelong, with the VFL today confirming the round one fixture.
The Magpies will travel down the highway to meet the Cats at Deakin University (Waurn Ponds) with the first bounce set for 12pm (AEDT).
The match will mark Chloe McMillan's first official match as head coach of the Pies' VFLW side.
For the first time, the rebel VFLW Premiership Season will align with the NAB AFLW Competition allowing non-selected AFLW players to play for their aligned VFLW club during February, March and April.
The 2021 Rebel VFLW season will see each side play 14 games over the course of 16 weeks with 12 clubs participating - Carlton, Casey Demons, Collingwood, Darebin, Essendon, Geelong, Hawthorn, North Melbourne, Port Melbourne, Southern Saints, Western Bulldogs and Williamstown.
The top six sides will play in the finals series which are due to commence in June and will be played over four weeks. The Grand Final is scheduled for the weekend of July 10, 2021.
The 2019 VFLW Grand Final re-match between the Magpies and Bulldogs is set to be played in round three. The Pies will also played Essendon on the ANZAC Day weekend.
VFLW and VFL double-headers will be a feature during the season and will be released following confirmation of the VFL fixture. These double-headers will be dependent on Government protocols.
The timeslots for the next block of matches will be released once the 2021 rebel VFLW Premiership Season begins. The AFL will conitnue to take the advice of the Victorian Government and health officials as it worked through fixtures for upcoming rounds.
Crowds will be permitted at all matches in Round One unless otherwise advised but limited crowd capacity will be enforced at all venues. Matches will be streamed through the VFLW digital channels.
