Collingwood has nominated Oakleigh Chargers defender Jake Kelly as a potential Father-Son selection in the November Rookie Draft.

Kelly, 18, is the son of Craig, the ex-Collingwood defender.

He has not been nominated as a Father-Son selection for the National Draft on 21 November.

Instead, should Kelly still be available prior to the Rookie Draft on 27 November, Collingwood will have the option of pre-listing him as a Father-Son rookie selection.

Should this occur and the Magpies opt to list Kelly for 2014, he will be added to the club’s rookie list with its final selection in the Rookie Draft.

Kelly played in three of the Magpies’ last four VFL games of the season, including the Elimination Final against Port Melbourne, as a top-up player from the TAC Cup.

He played mainly across half back and at times on the wing where he averaged 11.7 disposals and 2.0 rebound 50s.

While playing for the Chargers in the TAC Cup, Kelly averaged 19.4 disposals and 5.2 rebounds with hauls of 30 possessions against Calder and the Western Jets.

Jake’s father played 122 games for the Magpies between 1989 and 1996 and was a member of the famous 1990 premiership team.
