The Yarra City Council is celebrating the opening of a major new community recreation space at Victoria Park this Sunday.

The Yarra City Council is delighted to invite you to the official launch of the $7.2 million redevelopment of Victoria Park. Funded by the Australian Government and council, the redevelopment has created a major recreation space for all to enjoy.

Make a day of it with your family and friends and join in celebrating a new era in the life of this historic ground.

Day: Victoria Park Community Celebration
When: Sunday 4 December (1-5pm)
Where: Victoria Park, Cnr Lulie and Turner Streets, Abbotsford (Melways Ref. 2C J7)

Highlights will include:
  • A community choir singing a medley of AFL team songs in different languages
  • Local primary school children competing in Aboriginal traditional games and playing Mangrook
  • A mass dance inspired by the movements of AFL umpires
  • Local community stalls offering food and other goods
  • Collingwood Football Club memorabilia display including Premiership Cups
  • A round robin of sporting activities for children and families presented by clubs with a history at the ground
  • Four new public artworks inspired by Victoria Park
  • Celebrations for the International Day of People with a disability
