Club: Collingwood
Coach: Steve Symonds
2020 captain: Steph Chiocci (Bri Davey will join Chiocci in 2021)
2020 best and fairest: Jaimee Lambert
2020 in a nutshell: Despite a heartbreaking loss to North Melbourne in a hastily arranged semi-final, it was a positive season for the Pies, their first under Symonds. A new gameplan breathed life into the team, which shook the monkey off the back with its first round-one win in four attempts. Collingwood finished with four of six victories, the best of which was a 15-point win over Carlton in round two.
New players: Abbey Green (North Melbourne), Aliesha Newman (Melbourne), Imogen Purcell (cross-coder), Tarni Brown, Amelia Velardo, Joanna Lin, Abbi Moloney, Bella Smith (draft)
Notable departures: Emma Grant, Eliza Hynes (retired), Sarah D'Arcy, Sarah Dargan (both Richmond), Katie Lynch (Western Bulldogs, pictured below)
Inactive players: Nil
2021 opponents: Carlton (a), Fremantle (h), West Coast (a), Adelaide (h), Geelong (a), St Kilda (a), Greater Western Sydney (h), Brisbane (a), Melbourne (h)
Circle it: Round one against Carlton looms as an excellent test of where the improving Magpies stack up against the competition's best, while the round nine game against the Dees could be vital in the finals race.
Player to watch: Chloe Molloy is set for much longer stints forward in 2021, after previously spending time in defence and in the midfield. She finished equal-first in the VFLW's goalkicking at just 19, the season before she was drafted, so knows where the goals are.
Best Rising Star chance: Tarni Brown
