Another week, another set of records to devour.
With his left footed major on Monday, Dane Swan moved past Ray Shaw to take 28th spot on Collingwood’s all-time goal kicking leaderboard.
He became only the 29th man to kick 200 or more goals for Collingwood when he kicked two goals in the team’s come-from-behind win over North Melbourne in round nine.
Swan has kicked 20 or more goals in five of his past seven seasons with a high of 32 in his Brownlow Medal year of 2011.
The 31-year-old has had a total of 389 scoring shots across 246 games, kicking four goals on four occasions and five on one, against this week’s opponents Greater Western Sydney in round 18, 2012.
Of the 11 Magpies to have played more games than Swan, only seven have kicked more goals.
Speaking of games played, Swan is now level with Gavin Crosisca in equal twelfth on the club’s leaderboard.
If he is to play in each of the club’s twelve remaining home and away games (without taking finals into consideration), Swan will have played 258 senior games. It will be enough to move him past Lou Richards, Peter Daicos, Harry Collier and Gavin Brown to move into outright eighth place.
Meanwhile...
Monday’s match marked a career-best outing for Travis Cloke.
The big man kicked seven goals from seven scoring shots – no behinds – as he monstered the Melbourne backline.
Cloke had kicked seven goals only once before, back in round four, 2013, when he bagged 7.2 against Richmond.
Curiously, Cloke had 12 kicks for the day and went without a handball – something he has done only five times since 2010.
With 416 goals, he is ranked eighth on Collingwood’s overall goal kicking leaderboard. He is just seven goals behind former teammate Anthony Rocca (223).
Cloke’s seven goals were enough to propel him back into top spot on the club’s 2015 goal kicking leaderboard with 26, two ahead of Jamie Elliott (24).
He has played 90 per cent or more game time in each of his ten games this season.
Records: Swan, Cloke break new ground
