COLLINGWOOD president Eddie McGuire has labelled reports that former club captain Nathan Buckley has been offered the job of coaching the club's VFL team as "ridiculous".

On the day where the Magpies were welcomed back to their spiritual home at Victoria Park -- where the VFL side will play its home games from 2010 -- McGuire refused to entertain radio reports Buckley was in line to replace current VFL coach Gavin Brown.

"It's a nonsense thing to talk about. There's nothing happening, I'm not going to get drawn on it," McGuire said on Wednesday

"I don't know anything about that. We're just delighted to be here. It's great that the Pies are back in town."

McGuire maintained the Magpies would not be rushed on any decisions concerning their coaching staff and that there was no time frame on the process.

"What day is it today? I reckon we had this conversation three weeks before the start of the season. Nothing has changed so rather than waste tape, I'm not going to make any comment whatsoever about any coaches," he said.

"We know what we're doing at Collingwood and that's it.

"There's nothing happening at the moment. We've been going at this for 20-something weeks. There's nothing happening.

"It will happen in due course. Relax. You'll be the first to know."

McGuire also said he was unconcerned about potential discussions between Collingwood coach Mick Malthouse and Richmond.

"I'm the president of Collingwood. I don't worry about anyone else," he said.

"[Malthouse] is contracted. His contract is under control."
