REVIEWS - The show opened last Wednesday to a capacity crowd that contained Melbourne legend Brian Dixon who loved the show. Also in the audience was Julie Freeman who emailed Kieran to say "Just wanted to let you know how much I loved the show... I could relate to pretty much everything you were saying. My husband is a Carlton supporter.... he has been with me through many of those moments and knew exactly what you were talking about... Keep up the great work!" year Pieguy8015 posted this comment on video website YouTube where you can watch a short video from last years show "Hilarious...I went to see this show in 06... It was fantastic...Good on ya Kieran" Allison Maynard who saw the show last Friday said “I think this years version is a much better show. I’m coming back to see it again with some friends”
Unfortunately, last Saturday night the 'reverse curse' was broken when the Pies went down by 12 points to West Coast. The show went ahead at 9.30 PM as scheduled when the game was in the balance but we crossed live to the bar at the Carringbush for progress scores and those present witnessed Kieran's despondency as the Pies and his perfect record went down in a blaze of glory. On the bright side, his record is still at a creditable 5 -1 in favour!
Before the game against West Coast, Kieran took his show flyers down to the MCG and handed them out to the Sydney and Richmond supporters as they left the game. Wearing a Collingwood jumper elicited plenty of abuse from the Richmond fans especially, but even Kieran was left speechless when a Tiger's fan walked up and gave him a handful of loose change! Kieran dutifully deposited the cash in a tin for the homeless and told the collector "It would seem you might get more money if you wore a Collingwood jumper". The following day an Essendon fan (leaving the Essendon v Fremantle game) walked straight up to him and gave him a big hug!
Kieran has decided to hand out show flyers at games including all AFL clubs and is compiling a ladder based on the responses of the fans who wander past him.
Points will be awarded for personality, humour and verbal abuse. Clubs will get also get points for genuinely original and witty comments – this does not include “Collingwood has ruined everyone’s life” and “You’re at the wrong game mate”. Points are also awarded for hugs and financial donations.
The ladder after round 2 matches (Richmond v Sydney, Essendon v Fremantle, Hawthorn v Melbourne) stands as follows
Club | Personality/abuse | Humour/wit | Hugs/cash | Total |
Richmond | 6 | 4 | 2 | 12 |
Essendon | 4 | 2 | 2 | 10 |
Fremantle | 4 | 2 | 0 | 6 |
Sydney | 4 | 0 | 0 | 4 |
Hawthorn | 2 | 0 | 0 | 2 |
Melbourne | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
