Paul Medhurst described his first game for Collingwood, in which he contributed two important goals in the thrilling three-point win over the Kangaroos, as "unbelievable".

Medhurst also notched his 100th AFL game in the triumph, having come to the club via the 2006 trade period following five seasons at Fremantle, and after the match spoke to CTV in the rooms about the experience and what it’s like to be Magpie.

"It was unbelievable to get a couple (of kicks) in there in the last quarter, because I didn’t have much of an impact in the first three, I’m a little bit underdone, but I thank them (the Collingwood coaching staff) for the opportunity to play", Medhurst said excitedly, just moments after singing ‘Good Old Collingwood Forever’ for the first time.

"It didn’t look like it there for a while, but it was a fantastic win and something we can hopefully build a season on."

The 25-year-old, who booted 166 goals in his time with the Dockers, bagged his first goal for the black and white with his second kick in the first term, and added another at the 18-minute mark of the final term as the Magpies charged towards victory.

He finished with 12 touches and seven marks with his best coming when it mattered in the final term.

Early last week Medhurst's place in the round one side was no certainty after he played in a VFL practice match for Williamstown last Sunday following three weeks out with a foot injury, but his selection, even though he's got a little way to go before hitting peak condition, was clearly justified.Having only played a handful of games at the MCG throughout his career, Medhurst said it was a great experience to play in front of the Magpie army at his new home ground, the MCG.

"You could hear the voices just building and building in the last quarter, it really helped us get over the line, it was a great feeling."
