Nick Maxwell
Always a leader.  Although he was a quiet individual, out on the field he made sure he was heard.  He made sure he knew exactly where everyone needed to be and ensured that everyone had to play their role.

He is someone who is liked by everyone and doesn’t have an enemy in the world.

He was someone to rely upon to get an opinion and to hear his take on things.

Highly regarded by his teammates given he was consistently voted into the leadership group.  His teammates were always saying he was an important leader at the club.

Nathan Buckley
Obes was always a really unassuming member of the team. He went about his business around the club in a very quiet manner.  At times it really belied his influence on the team and what he was able to bring from a footy smarts perspective to our preparation to the divisions he was involved in through the midfield.

He sees the game as well as anyone.  On game day his communication around stoppages was always something  that was important in our best performances.

He played the game well and saw the game well and the way he played was a reflection on all of that.

Mick Malthouse
He got the absolute best out of himself.  He had an appearance of a very quiet person but I can’t remember the number of players who would come up to me after games or during training to tell me that Shane O’Bree’s advice and encouragement was outstanding.

I thoroughly enjoyed being a part of his time at Collingwood.  I have been very impressed with him as a bloke.  I think he has a fantastic football brain and used every ounce of his energy and body to get the best out of himself.

I sincerely wish him the best in the future.  His football brain is as sharp and as strong as anyone I have seen.

He will be sorely missed both on and off the ground.
