The Collingwood Football Club can confirm that Mark Neeld will take no further part in the club's 2011 campaign, following his appointment as the senior coach of Melbourne.

The club wishes to congratulate Neeld on his appointment and thank him for his outstanding four-year contribution.

Neeld joined Collingwood in 2008 as the defensive assistant coach. He held that position for two years before taking charge of the midfield group, which he has done for the past two seasons.

Collingwood senior coach Mick Malthouse said: "Mark has been a very loyal deputy, and I am thrilled for him.

"It is not practical to have the Melbourne coach working at Collingwood, which is why he won't be continuing with us. Mark is fully appreciative and understanding of this.

"On behalf of everyone at the club I wish him every success in the future."
