It was one of the most dramatic fortnights in league history.
After surviving the epic draw against St Kilda in the Grand Final, Collingwood was never going to allow this precious second chance to slip.
The Magpies burst out of the blocks courtesy of first quarter goals to Tyson Goldsack, Ben Johnson and Brent Macaffer and denied St Kilda any scoreboard impact. The latter was largely thanks to the desperate defensive work of Heath Shaw who famously smothered St Kilda captain Nick Riewoldt's kick for goal on the goal line.
Leading by 27 points at the main break, Collingwood put the foot down in the third quarter (conveniently known as the 'premiership quarter') with five goals to the delight of the Magpie Army. The most memorable goal was Alan Didak's smother, recovery and floating snap on his non-preferred right foot and trademark shimmy to boot.

The final quarter was pure bliss for the 93,853 fans as the beautiful reality sunk in. Didak held the ball aloft as the siren sounded - a reward for his courage in overcoming a torn pectoral muscle.
Scott Pendlebury was voted the Norm Smith Medalist as best afield after 29 disposals and 11 tackles.
As captain Nick Maxwell and coach Mick Malthouse stood on the dais and held the 2010 premiership cup aloft, the Collingwood Football Club finally returned to its rightful place on top of the world.
To the victors go the spoils (L-R): Heath Shaw, Ben Johnson, Dane Swan and Alan Didak.
