With Collingwood’s VFL season drawing to a close last weekend, the club announced today the departures of five rookies; Paul Cribbin, Daniel Farmer, Shae McNamara, Lachlan Smith and Trent Stubbs.

McNamara, a former professional basketballer from the US, spent three years at the Westpac Centre. Cribbin, Farmer and Stubbs had been with the club for two seasons while Smith was recruited to the club at the end of 2011. None played senior football.

Collingwood’s Director of Football, Geoff Walsh, thanked the five for their commitment and said he hoped each of them would use the experience of trying to forge an AFL career in black and white positively.

“Football, at this level, has to be a way of life and all of the boys committed to that, which we thank them for. We certainly hope they find success with whatever it is they choose to take on next.”
