With the AFL Dream Team competition thrown into chaos with injuries plaguing a number of superstars, it’s time to reassess your team and how you should proceed through these uncertain weeks.

DT Magpie has been inundated with questions regarding how many trades are appropriate to have at this point in the competition.

Well, there is no one number that’s correct but this early into the season but it’s important to not get trade giddy.

It’s extremely tempting to trade out an injured superstar who is listed as 2-3 weeks for a rising rookie.  DT Magpie suggests erring on the side of caution because when it gets to those final few rounds of the season, having trades up your sleeve will be the difference between an enjoyable  finals campaign and sitting on your couch counting down the days for season 2010 to open.

Just an update on how DT Magpie is progressing....he has finally broken into the top 500 in the competition and is looking forward to his attack into the final 50.

This week DT Magpie has dedicated his column to answering questions from the Magpie faithful regarding what they should do with their team this week.

DT Magpie, what are your thoughts on Brent Macaffer?  His price is set to rise this week and could be a good cash cow for injured Matthew Richardson. – Tyler (2-1 in my league, 15 trades left)

Tyler, a good question as many coaches will have this same dilemma.  Macaffer has a breakeven of -48 and is set to rise in price if he gets his third game.  “IF” is the key word here.  No doubt with a few forwards out this week (John Anthony suspended this week, Alan Didak listed as 1-2 weeks) Macaffer could retain his spot and prove to be a valuable player on your bench.

DT Magpie, Anthony Corrie and Sharrod Wellingham were great in their first game of the season last week.  Should they be considered?
- Sam (14 trades left)

The thing that makes these players tempting is they will be unique and if they have a pearler of a game you will be a leg up on your opponent.  Very little separates these players with regards to price and score.  Both are exciting players and could maintain their spot for the duration of the year.

O Captain!  My Captain!

Dane Swan unleashes DT fury against the Saints.  In the last four matches against St Kilda, Swan has scored over the ton mark on each occasion (an average which equates to 117).  Coming off two strong DT performances the elite midfielder is a lock in as skip.  With the Cattery taking on Sydney, a team notorious for limiting DT points, why not wait until Monday night to watch your skipper play?

What's your plan of attack this week?  Macaffer IN?  Corrie IN?  Please submit any questions to DT Magpie below to be answered in next week's column.
