The Collingwood Football Club is deeply saddened by the passing of Jim Stynes.
The Collingwood Football Club is deeply saddened by the passing of Jim Stynes.
Jim will be remembered as one of the greatest people associated with Australian football, both for his extraordinary on-field achievements, and his outstanding contribution to the game and society.
Jim’s courageous battle with cancer in recent years was an inspiration to so many, and his unwavering commitment to the things he loved - his family, his youth work and the Melbourne Football Club to name a few - was admired by all.
Few people in the history of the VFL/AFL have had such a positive impact on the game and on so many peoples’ lives.
On behalf of everyone at Collingwood, I wish to express my sincerest condolences to Jim’s wife Sam and his two children, Matisse and Tiernan.
Vale Jim. Rest in peace.
Note: Sam Stynes, wife of Jim, has asked that people donate to the Peter MacCallum Cancer Foundation in Jim’s memory.
