Fourth quarter let down
Down by four points heading into the final term, the Magpies were beaten in several key statistical categories in the last quarter of play resulting in a four-goal run by the Saints.

Efficiency
The Magpies were least effective in the final term as they used the ball at 58% efficiency which led to 37 of their disposals to be ineffective, 14 more than in their highest effective term which was in the second quarter (73% efficiency).

St Kilda used the ball at 72% in the final term which added further damage to Collingwood’s poor usage.

Turnovers
Collingwood’s poor disposal resulted in 27 turnovers for the quarter, 34% of their final total (80). 

St Kilda capitalised on Collingwood’s turnovers and booted three goals from the 27 turnovers in the final term for a total of seven majors from 80 turnovers for the match.

The Saints kicked 70% of their goals from Magpie turnovers, seven percent higher than the league average (63%) for round three.

190 goals were kicked over the third round with Sydney kicking the highest return from turnovers against Richmond with 14 goals (88%).

Contested possession
St Kilda chalked up 47 contested possessions in the final term which represented 36% of its total for the match (130) while Collingwood registered 39 contested possessions or 28% of its final total (141).
