Saturday night produced another thriller between Collingwood and St Kilda and it was the Magpies who prevailed, but this time by only six-points in front of a rowdy MCG crowd.

The two sides duked it out in a thrilling second half that saw the Saints enjoy the ascendency for much of the final hour, only for the Magpies to cling on to a one-goal advantage when the final siren sounded.

Sharrod Wellingham was a welcome addition to the Collingwood line-up, and he celebrated his return with an early goal.

No one can lay a hand on Scott Pendlebury.

The Saints made it a challenge from the first bounce, putting the heat on the Magpies with their defensive pressure.

Travis Cloke puts the dukes out to the full extension to mark in front of James Gwilt.

All the highs, all the lows...

...as the room is spinning oh...

...we'll run wild. We'll be glowing in the dark.

Tyson Goldsack's night came to an abrupt halt when he injured his lower leg midway through the match and was forced from the field.

Nathan Buckley kept his men on their toes during the breaks.

Chris Dawes played one of his best games for the season, laying six tackles, winning three hitouts and kicking two goals from 13 possessions.

And speaking of great games, how good was Darren Jolly on the weekend? The ruckman reprised his near best on ground performance against the same opposition in the 2010 Grand Final replay with a superb match.

He didn't have it all his own way, and he'll surely tell you following this clash with St Kilda's Stephen Milne.

David brought Goliath to his knees on this occasion.

With the Saints charging home, Buckley had to ask for a special final quarter effort from his side.

Ben Reid went the extra mile.

Sharrod Wellingham didn't shirk the issue.

And Darren Jolly's dominance continued.

But Dale Thomas?

Well, he was just Dale Thomas.

St Kilda never let up, but the Magpies refused to lose their heads.

But when Stephen Milne began to work some magic, things began to look grim.

But up to the plate stepped Harry O'Brien who made sure this one didn't slip away.

The man in white is always right, and so is the man in green.

The siren. Collingwood is relieved. Lenny Hayes, Nick Dal Santo and Brendon Goddard ponder what might have been.

Two All-Australians show respect after the final siren.

Collingwood fans are just wild about Harry.

The song always sounds sweeter when Collingwood sneaks over the line. The Pies have won all four games decided by two goals or less this season. Next stop: ANZ Stadium for a date with the Sydney Swans.
