Collingwood was made to work hard to score its third successive victory in its round six clash with the Western Bulldogs under the Etihad Stadium lights.

The Magpies found the going difficult early as the Bulldogs ramped up their defensive pressure and made life tough for Collingwood's prime movers.

With thanks to players such as Scott Pendlebury, Heath Shaw and Dayne Beams, Collingwood pulled away in the final quarter to register a 21-point victory.

Collingwoodfc.com.au has published the best photos that tell the story of the night with thanks to the wonderful photographers at AFL Media.

"I'm free falling
I'm feeling so like whatever..."
Is Heath Shaw channeling Zoe Badwi?

The pre-game was spent atching and waiting, but there was no commiserating from Nathan Buckley when it was all said and done. The Pies got home by 21-points.

All that glitters is Gold. Tyson Goldsack kicked the first goal of the game since...the 2010 Grand Final replay. All self-respecting Pies fans can tell you about that!

Ben Johnson began the game well but was soon subbed out of proceedings with a shoulder injury.

So many stories in this photo of Liam Picken and Dane Swan. Two former teammates during Collingwood's alignment with VFL team Williamstown. Two sons of former guns. And Dane Swan playing against the Western Bulldogs, the team against whom he debuted in round 13, 2003, at what was then known as Telstra Dome. He had only eight disposals that night. Can you believe that? Then again, when Nathan Buckley's winning 35 disposals...

Lachlan Keeffe's anonymity in football circles won't last much longer if he continues his recent form.

Go for it Simon, you've got the skipper's blessing.

Three Magpies hard at work: Cameron Wood has Matthew Boyd covered for height; Travis Cloke was made to scrap hard by Brian Lake; Steele Sidebottom continued his rise to midfield seniority.

Ben Sinclair's desperation was rewarded not once...

...but twice.

The man mountain in full flight.

Good times for all as Fasolo kicks the Pies clear midway through the final term.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, looks like it's the ball game.

Winners are grinners.

One man's pleasure, another team's pain. Sharrod Wellingham illustrates the contrasting emotions of football.

Scott Pendlebury, the winner of the Bob Rose-Charlie Sutton Medal, pays tribute to Lucas Dumbreall who is an ambassador of the Robert Rose Foundation.

Two games for two wins means a blood nose won't keep Kirk Ugle from sleeping peacefully tonight.

Heath?

The price you pay for winning. Ben Reid wouldn't mind this attention from Heath Shaw one bit. Collingwood home by 21-points and now at 4-2 after six rounds. Go Pies!
