For just the second time in nearly six seasons, Rob and Sue Brown will be able to watch their twin sons play on the same football field, at the same time.

When Collingwood takes on West Coast on Saturday in the highly anticipated top of the table clash at the MCG, 23-year-old brothers Nathan and Mitch will also face off.

See Saturday's selected sides here.

Nathan is two games back from the minor knee injury he sustained against the Brisbane Lions in round seven, and Mitch has been recalled after showing form for East Fremantle in the WAFL.

With injuries cruelling both boys since their respective debuts in 2007 and 2008, the only other time they've played against each other on an AFL field was in round nine, 2009.

Rob and Sue, who are Melbourne based and barrack for both boys but officially Collingwood and West Coast respectively, will brave the cold on Saturday to take in the rare opportunity.

"We're all at the 'G in one place, which is good for them," Nathan said on Friday.

"Hopefully I'll come across him on the field.

"I hope he has a real good game. It's his first game back in a while and he's been playing good footy.

"As much as I want to beat West Coast, I hope Mitch has a good game."

The close brothers, who have supported each other through a scary number of similar injuries including knees, shoulders and thumbs, haven't experienced their usual level of communication this week.

"In the meeting just before, Bucks actually asked me if Mitch had told me anything," Nathan said.

"I actually haven't spoken to him at all. I'll touch base with him this arvo and have a coffee with him and try and get a few things out of him."

Collingwood's Brown is looking forward to playing in a revitalised back line with Heath Shaw, Alan Toovey and Ben Reid - who all trained on Friday - returning from injury.

It will be the first time he's played with both Reid and Chris Tarrant since the latter returned to Collingwood in late 2010.

"It's exciting. I played my first game with Taz last week and that was fantastic," he said.

"You train so much with these guys, you just want to play with them so it's been really good. The more games we can play with each other and get to know each other, the better."

He said he expected all three to fit into the team and complement each other, despite their inexperience at playing as a trio.

"It is different out of the field but we've done a lot of pre-season and training together so we know each other very well," he said.

"When we play together, we'll find our strengths and Taz can play on smalls and we'll sort out week from week with different forward opponents and we'll go from there."

Tarrant had a pre-training running workout with injured pair Alan Didak and Scott Pendlebury before the squad braved freezing wet conditions at Gosch's Paddock on Friday.
