It's been a wet winter in Melbourne but Collingwood had managed to avoid playing wet weather football until it took on reigning premier Geelong under the Saturday night lights of a misty MCG.

The win marks the first time Collingwood has defeated Geelong twice in the home and away season since 2003 (when they won in rounds three and 18) and put the Pies to outright top of the ladder...if only for 24 hours.

Collingwoodfc.com.au has published the best photos from the 31-point win with thanks to the wonderful photographers at AFL Media.

Dale Thomas lit the spark when he kicked the first of the night.

Tyson Goldsack quickly followed suit and had the Magpie engine running express to victory.

Every club is starting to learn how much Jamie Elliott loves to tackle.

Tom Hawkins looked menacing early in the piece and gave Nathan Brown and Ben Reid something to ponder.

The life of a ruck. Darren Jolly did it alone against a pair of young Cats.

No one catches Ben Sinclair when he puts the foot down.

With one arm, Nathan Brown fends off his opponent. With the other, he collects the footy.

Was it the best game of Heath Shaw's career? It was the second time this year that he's won 30 possessions against Geelong.

Flashpoint. Was it a goal or a behind?

You don't play 50 games without this sort of commitment.

Although Hawkins threatened to get off the chain, Nathan Brown managed to quell his influence on the result.

The top two of the 2007 AFL Rising Star Award take to the skies. Two Best and Fairests, three premierships and 141 Brownlow Medal votes between them and the promise of a lot more to come. After all, they're only 24.

Air Jordan or Air Pendles?

Dale Thomas always manages to put on a show.

A boy and his footy.

Two midfield maestros - Dane Swan and Steele Sidebottom.

Side by Side we stick our tackles together. Beams and Jolly show how it's done.

One man. One ball. One outcome.

Hot potato hot potato…

Chris Tarrant wound back the clock and kicked two goals in attack; Harry O'Brien was his spritely self in his 150th game.

Kids, take note. These two images will probably on your footy cards next year.

The royals royce.

It's said that you don't take a Ferrari down a country road, but in Pendles' case, we'll make an exception.

One up, one down. The story of the night.

Chris Dawes congratulates Alan Toovey on his 100th senior game.

Nick Maxwell says goodnight to the Magpie Army as the players leave the field victorious for the 12th time this year.

Victory. Note Chris Tarrant and Ben Reid standing arm in arm. Both were involved in Tarrant's trade to Fremantle at the end of 2006; six years later the pair are key components of the Collingwood machine. Who would have thought?
