Watch Sharrod Wellingham speak to CTV in the MCG rooms after the win.

One of the rising stars of the Collingwood side and a key ingredient to the team’s early success in 2010, 21-year-old Sharrod Wellingham deemed the win over Carlton his favourite thus far this season.??

“It was my favourite win of the year,” Wellingham told CTV in the MCG rooms after the match.??

“I don’t like Carlton that much because they have beaten us the last few times so it’s good to get a win.”??

With the Magpies taking a 28-point lead into the main break, the Blues came back early in the third term cutting the deficit to just three points.

“I think that’s one of Carlton’s strengths.  They get their flow on and are a confidence-based side.??

“We were able to stick to our structures and peg them back, bit by bit.”??

Watch Mick Malthouse address the media in his post-match press conference.

Averaging 24 disposals and four marks in his first six matches, the midfielder is content with the form he has displayed but is wary of falling victim to inconsistency.??

A rookie-draft (2006) success story, Wellingham has now played 34 senior games and has cemented a spot in the best 22 this year.

“I have been happy with my form.  I want to keep it going for the rest of the year and not drop off.  That’s my aim.”

Watch the team sing the song after the match.

Working alongside the likes of Dane Swan, Darren Jolly and Scott Pendlebury, the Western Australian has thrived under the guidance of a talented Magpie midfield.

“Having (Darren) Jolly and (Josh) Fraser getting us the ball is essential really.  If they can keep that up all year we are definitely on our way.

“With Swanny, Dids, and even Mago (Leon Davis) pinch hitting in there (the midfield) a bit, it’s the depth of the group which is definitely helping.”
