Last Monday, Old Carey Football Club became the latest team to enjoy an elite training session conducted by Collingwood Football Club at the Westpac Centre.

Old Carey is a stronghold in the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA).

The team made the most of their night using the elite facilities at the Westpac Centre which include the high altitude room, swimming pools, hot and cold recovery pools, a spin session and of course a run out on Olympic Park Oval.

Old Carey captain and reigning Woodrow Medallist Cameron Howat attended the session and completed his recovery as he attempts to return from injury.

Howat was selected in the 2005 Rookie Draft by Richmond and played 21 senior games.

Old Carey Coach Steve Cochrane said that his team thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to train at Collingwood’s elite facility.

“Training on an MCG size surface surrounded by the city lights, to a recovering session in the altitude room really gave our guys a taste of professional football life.

“I would recommend this night as a great alternative to the standard weekly sessions.”

Collingwood wishes Old Carey the best of luck for the rest of the season.
