Tyson Goldsack and Quinten Lynch are free to play in Friday night’s match against West Coast after the AFL Match Review Panel cleared the pair of any wrongdoing in separate clashes against Hawthorn.

Goldsack tangled with Hawthorn forward Jack Gunston but the AFL reported that the “majority of the contact was to the body and there was no significant high contact.”

As for Lynch, who clashed with Sam Mitchell late in the second quarter, the “free kick was paid at the time and the forced used was below that required to be a reportable offence.”

The upcoming match against the Eagles will be Lynch’s first home and away match against his old side since crossing the Nullarbor last October.

Lynch’s former teammate Dean Cox will also be available to play in Friday’s game after receiving a reprimand for striking Geelong’s Joel Selwood on Saturday night.

The Match Review Panel determined that Cox can accept a reprimand and 70.31 points towards his future record with an early plea as a result of his six-year good record.

Read the Match Review Panel’s official findings below:
Contact between Collingwood’s Quinten Lynch and Hawthorn’s Sam Mitchell from the second quarter of Friday’s match was assessed. Lynch was running towards the bench when he bumps Mitchell, causing him to go to ground. A free kick was paid by the controlling umpire at the time, for the prohibited contact. After viewing all available video footage and receiving a medical from the Hawthorn Football Club, it was the view of the panel that the force used was below that required to be a reportable offence. No further action was taken.

Contact between Collingwood’s Tyson Goldsack and Hawthorn’s Jack Gunston from the third quarter of Friday’s match was assessed. Collingwood’s Scott Pendlebury gathers the ball and handballs forward. As Pendlebury takes possession of the ball, Goldsack shepherds for his team mate with a block on Gunston. It was the view of the panel the majority of the contact was to the body and there was no significant high contact. No further action was taken.

Dean Cox has been charged with a Level One Striking Offence (125 demerit points, one-match sanction) for striking Joel Selwood, Geelong Cats, during the third quarter of the Round 21 match between West Coast and the Geelong Cats, played at Patersons Stadium on Saturday August 17, 2013.

In summary, due to a six-year good record, he can accept a reprimand and 70.31 points towards his future record with an early plea.

Based on the video evidence available and a medical report from the Geelong Cats Football Club, the incident was assessed as intentional conduct (three points), low impact (one point) and body contact (one point). This is a total of five activation points, resulting in the classification of a Level Two offence, drawing 125 demerit points and a one-match sanction. He has an existing six-year good record, which reduces the penalty by 25 per cent to a reprimand and 93.75 demerit points towards his future record. An early  plea reduces the penalty by 25 per cent to a reprimand and 70.31 points towards his future record.
