When the 19-year-old last wore it, he played in a premiership with his junior club back home in South Australia.
He recently upgraded from the No. 27 he wore in his first season at the club.
“Bucks called me halfway through the off-season and just asked if I was happy changing numbers to a lower number and I just said yeah, I wouldn’t mind,” Kennedy explained to collingwoodfc.com.au.
“I played with No. 7 when I played for the Brighton Bombers, my junior club.
“I basically just played with No. 7 for a couple of years there and won a premiership in that team so I feel comfortable in No. 7.”
Kennedy takes over the number previously worn by Andrew Krakouer, whom he says he got on well with during his first season.
Hopefully Kennedy, like Krakouer and Paul Medhurst before him, can quickly become a fan favourite in his new number.
