It's been a long 185 days since Collingwood's 2012 campaign ended at the hands of Sydney in last year's Preliminary Final.

After freezing their way through the snow in Park City, Utah, and enduring one of the hottest Melbourne summers on record, the Collingwood players and coaches have only six more days to wait until they take on North Melbourne in round one of the 2013 home and away season.

The Magpies have welcomed 13 new players into their squad including Quinten Lynch (West Coast), Clinton Young (Hawthorn) and Jordan Russell (Carlton) while farewelling mainstays Chris Tarrant (retired), Sharrod Wellingham (West Coast) and Chris Dawes (Melbourne).

A batch untried youngsters have been added to the list and several mature aged new faces such as Jack Frost, Sam Dywer and Kyle Martin have joined the club's rookie list, giving the team an added dose of hunger and intensity.
