CTV: Skies clearing for Keeffe
Key defender Lachlan Keeffe has provided CTV with an update on his rehabilitation from a knee reconstruction.
Keeffe’s bright start to 2012 hit a brick wall when he tore his anterior cruciate ligament in the last quarter of Collingwood’s win over Adelaide in round nine.
He told CTV that while his recovery is on track, he still has several checkpoints to reach before he makes a return to the playing field.
“The recovery has been going alright post-Christmas. Beforehand I had a little bit of patella pain, which was holding me back a fair bit,” Keeffe said.

“Post-Christmas it’s been good. I’ve been able to start running pain free, changing directions and do a little bit of kicking as well. Nothing too dynamic just yet but it’s just good to the pain-free aspect at the moment.”
The 22-year-old is understandably hesitant to nominate a specific return date, and is instead focusing on continuing to undergo his rehabilitation by the book.
“It’s still only just before eight months (since he injured his knee), so I’ve still got a little bit to go yet.
“When it comes, it comes, and you get the tick of approval from the physios.”
