Collingwood defender Marley Williams has been withdrawn from Sunday's blockbuster against Carlton due to an ankle injury.

“He rolled it at training. We’ll see how it pulls up and assess it early next week,” Director of Football Rodney Eade told collingwoodfc.com.au.

“There’s not a lot of swelling but he can’t play on the weekend, so hopefully he will be alright for next week.”

Williams, who sustained the injury during training on Friday morning, has been replaced in the 25-man squad by Ben Kennedy.

The team for Sunday's match will be finalised at 5pm on Friday evening.
