In his first 30-plus disposal match since returning from a knee injury in round 14 against Essendon, Scott Pendlebury was back to his best on Saturday night against Brisbane with 36 possessions, six marks and one goal.

The 21-year-old earned a maximum 10 votes in the AFL Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year race.

Each week the head coaches votes on a 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 basis. Coaches vote only on their own matches, but may vote for players on the opposing team.

Past winners of the prestigious award include Gary Ablett (2007-08), Simon Goodwin and Adam Goodes (joint winners in 2006), Barry Hall (2005) and Warren Tredrea (2004).

Brownlow favourite Dane Swan climbed up the leaderboard after polling six votes for his 36 touch effort.  Swan now sits 14 votes behind leader Gary Ablett.

Dale Thomas received five votes, a season-high, with five tackles and three goals.

Heath Shaw and Nick Maxwell both polled one vote.
