Bucks talks tough
Herald Sun – 6/4/16

Nathan Buckley is demanding sharp improvement from Collingwood in Saturday’s clash with St Kilda, assessing the Magpies’ start to the season as mediocre.
Urging the Magpies to earn contested ball after an 80-point loss to Sydney and a one-point win over Richmond, Buckley said there was plenty of scope for improvement.
“We’ve probably been five or six out of 10 in our first two weeks,” he said yesterday.
…While injuries to Brownlow medallist Dane Swan and leading goalkicker Jamie Elliott (back) have dulled Collingwood’s potency, Buckley wants the Magpies to be more effective in 50-50 contests.
Winged Magpie Jamie Elliott faces up to three months on the sidelines
The Age – 5/04/16

Having already lost Dane Swan for the rest of the season, Collingwood is now facing the prospect of being without another premier performer for a chunk of the year.
Magpies coach Nathan Buckley said on Tuesday that small forward Jamie Elliott could face up to three more months on the sidelines as he recovers from a back complaint.
Elliott, the Pies’ leading goal kicker last season, has been on a restricted program since February.
Buckley said Elliott still had a lot of work to do, meaning long-term he could be sidelined for “six to eight (weeks) but it could be four to 12”.
On Elliott: "He had a good session today + his progress over the last couple of weeks has been good... You won't see him in the next month."

Pies sons show their colours
Herald Sun – 6/4/16

If first impressions count for anything, chances are Josh Daicos and Callum Brown’s pre-season baptism with Collingwood shapes as the start of a long relationship.
Daicos, son of champion Magpie forward Peter, and Brown, son of former captain Gavin, spent a week with Collingwood in the pre-season – and impressed.
Coach Nathan Buckley said while the presence of the teenage pair made him “feel old”, he was delighted with their attitude.
…Buckley said he remembered speaking to Darcy Moore, son of Brownlow medallist Peter, five or six years ago, urging him to make every day count in preparation for a possible AFL career, and he wanted Daicos and Brown to do the same.
