Collingwood fans were able to watch Mick Malthouse’s emotional final address as senior coach on the premiere of the Magpies’ new television program The Club on FOX FOOTY last night.

Malthouse’s speech was filmed in the bowels of the MCG immediately after the 2011 Grand Final loss to Geelong.

His final words were followed by a tribute from President Eddie McGuire in front of the teary-eyed players and officials.

It marked the beginning of the first episode of The Club, titled ‘A New Book’, that sent cameras into the operating theatre while forward Brent Macaffer underwent surgery to repair his ruptured ACL. The show also interviewed Director of Football Geoff Walsh who revealed Sharrod Wellingham’s two game club imposed suspension, and provided a lighter moment when Strauchanie gate-crashed the official team photo.

Collingwoodfc.com.au will be featuring segments from The Club each week on CTV.

The Club screens on FOX FOOTY (channel 504) at 9pm every Wednesday night.
