It's full steam ahead for Collingwood's AFLW side as the team returned to training earlier this week.
With an exciting new season just around the corner, we've previewed the team's key games for 2020! Make sure you've pencilled them into your calendars.
Round 1 v West Coast | Victoria Park | Sunday 8th Feb 1.10pm
Collingwood will play a part in another historic match when it takes on the West Coast Eagles in their inaugural game in the AFLW competition.
The Eagles will arrive with a wealth of experience, having 13 former Fremantle players on their side combined with some fresh young talent.
The Pies will be keen to secure a first round win, something they have failed to achieve in the past three seasons.
Round 2 v Carlton | Ikon Park | Sunday 16th Feb 3.10pm
Last season’s runner up, Carlton will host the Pies in round two.
The match will mark the first occasion former Blues skipper Brianna Davey will face her old side.
The Pies are yet to claim victory over their rivals.
Round 5 v Western Bulldogs | Morwell Recreation Reserve| Sunday 8th Mar 1.10pm
Round five will see the Pies hit the road bound for Morwell in Gippsland where they'll meet the Dogs.
The two sides will look very different since their last meeting back in round five in 2018. The Dogs were the only side to beat the Crows last year but they went on to lose their last five games of the season.
Magpie fans can enjoy double the action as Collingwood’s AFL Marsh Community Series game against the Saints will follow at 3.50pm.
Round 6 v Brisbane | Hickey Park, QLD | Saturday 14th Mar 2.10pm
The Pies will travel north and line up at Hickey Park for the first time when they take on the Lions. The game will mark the Pies’ first trip to Queensland since the 2018 season.
This is one of two cross-conference games the Pies will play this season (the other being against Geelong in round eight). The Lions lost a few big names at the end of the 2019 season but are again expected to be a very competitive side.
The sides last met in round seven of the 2019 season when the Pies claimed victory.
Round 7 v St Kilda | Victoria Park | Sunday 22nd Mar 6.10pm
The Saints are another new team to join the competition in 2020, and the Pies will have to wait until round seven to take them on for the first time.
Both sides will be keen to secure some valuable premiership points before heading into the final round of the season.
