UPDATE - SATURDAY 11AM: Collingwood ruckman Brodie Grundy has been withdrawn from the side to take on Greater Western Sydney this Sunday after sustaining a neck injury.

Grundy received a knock to the head during a warm up drill at training on Friday and was taken to hospital for precautionary scans.

UPDATE - FRIDAY 5PM: Jarryd Blair
will miss his first game in over a year due to an ankle injury when Collingwood meets Greater Western Sydney at the MCG on Sunday.

The small forward rolled his ankle during the Magpies' win over the Demons on the Queen's Birthday but played out the match, kicking three goals in the 25-point victory.

Remarkably, it will be only the seventh time Blair has missed a match since debuting against West Coast in round 14, 2010.

He is replaced in the selected side by Taylor Adams who has recovered from a toe injury, while Jarrod Witts also returns after missing Monday's match with soreness.

Wingman Paul Seedsman has been omitted, and joins the uncapped Jonathon Marsh and Brayden Maynard as the three emergencies.

Ruckman Brodie Grundy has been selected despite spending time in hospital after a training mishap on Friday morning.

THURSDAY 6.20PM: Taylor Adams
is in the frame to return from a toe injury against his former club when Collingwood meets Greater Western Sydney on Sunday.

Adams, who missed last Monday’s win against Melbourne, has battled a toe injury since originally sustaining the injury against Adelaide in round two.

Since arriving at Collingwood in the October of 2013 as a straight swap for Heath Shaw, Adams is still yet to face his former teammates.

A finger injury meant he was an absentee when the two clubs met in round 22 last season.

Adams has been named on an extended interchange bench alongside fellow inclusions Jarrod Witts and Brayden Maynard.

Witts remains in the selection mix after he was a late withdrawal ahead of the clash with the Demons owing to soreness.

Maynard, meanwhile, has been a senior emergency in three of the past four games. The youngest of Collingwood’s 45 players, he is yet to make his senior debut.

The 25-man squad will be trimmed to 22 when the teams are finalised at 5pm on Friday.

Sunday’s match will give the football world a look at how two of the most talented young teams are progressing.

The two sides are level on points with seven wins each, but the fourth placed Magpies are still yet to lose to the fifth placed Giants after three meetings since the latter’s inception in 2012.

The match will also be Collingwood supporters’ first look at Heath Shaw in the orange and charcoal since he left the club in the Adams trade.

Shaw has only played three games at the home of football since playing the last of his 115 for Collingwood at the ground in the 2013 Elimination Final.
