Collingwood will contest Chris Dawes' one-match suspension for striking - at the AFL tribunal tonight - after he was charged with striking Richmond’s Reece Conca during Friday night’s win.

Collingwood’s general manager of football, Geoff Walsh, told collingwoodfc.com.au that the club would contest the ban.

"We decided pretty early we would go to the tribunal.

"It's only a difference in points so we will put forward a case at tonight's tribunal."

The AFL match review panel assessed the incident as negligent conduct, low impact and high contact.

In summary, due to his previous poor record (a minor incident with Geelong’s Cameron Ling last year) means that his reprimand is increased to a one-game sanction and must remain at one-game, even with an early plea.

Stay tuned to Collingwoodfc.com.au to find out the verdict of tonight’s hearing.
