Most 199cm footballers are happy to just cover the ground. Pace is not really a consideration.
But Darcy Moore is not your average 199cm footballer.
The athletic youngster will represent Collingwood in Saturday’s Grand Final Sprint at the MCG.
Supporters got a good look at Moore’s leg speed when he gathered cleanly and stormed past his opponents and into an open goal against the Western Bulldogs earlier this season.
The heats will begin at 12.30pm, while the final is scheduled for 2.45pm.
Moore's competitors will be confirmed later in the week.
In recent years, Ben Kennedy, Paul Seedsman, Luke Rounds, Ryan Cook, Brad Dick, Tyson Goldsack, Chris Egan, Glenn Freeborn and Damien Adkins have all represented the Magpies in the event.
The Grand Final Sprint returned to the day’s run sheet in 2002 after a fourteen-year absence. It was originally staged in 1979.
