Collingwood will add another six players to its list on Tuesday December 13 in the NAB AFL Rookie Draft.
The Magpies have four live selections (picks No. 17, No. 35, No. 53 and No. 70) before officially drafting International Rookie Caolan Mooney (Ireland) and NSW Scholarship player Michael Hartley (Penrith Swans).
Magpies National Recruiting Manager Derek Hine is comfortable with his team’s position as he finalises the club’s playing list for 2012.
“From our side of things, I think that we’re pretty well balanced up again,” Hine said this week.
“Being mindful that we brought in two taller players, but I think that we’ll just attack it exactly the same way that we did the National Draft and just bring in the best players.
“I think that with the evenness of this year’s draft, clubs went in different directions (in the National Draft). I think there will be players who have been delisted by clubs that will be re-listed by clubs. I think there’ll be a few mature age players, so I think there’ll be a nice spread.”
International Rookies Paul Cribbin (Ireland) and Shae McNamara (United States) were retained on the rookie list for 2012. Cribbin played 12 VFL games in his first year at the club, while McNamara has played 34 VFL games over two seasons.
They were joined at the Westpac Centre by Jackson Paine (selection 50), Corey Gault (selection 65) and Jarrod Witts (selection 67) in the NAB AFL National Draft.
Collingwood will be an onlooker in the NAB AFL Pre-Season Draft that precedes the Rookie Draft, with only six clubs scheduled to participate. The Pre-Season Draft will begin at 11am.
