Scott Pendlebury and Brodie Grundy have been recognised for their outstanding seasons, with both selected in the All Australian team.

Pendlebury was named on the interchange bench, while Grundy was named in the ruck.

Grundy made his All Australian debut on the interchange last year but the selectors crowned him as the No.1 ruckman this season.

Grundy had the second-most hitouts to advantage at 12.2 per match and was effectively an extra midfielder as he averaged 21.1 possessions (13.4 contested) and almost six clearances.

Pendlebury, who shone with his kicking inside 50, was selected in the All Australian team for the sixth.

The high-profile omissions included 2017 Brownlow medallist Dustin Martin, Lions skipper Dayne Zorko, Geelong champion Gary Ablett and Port Adelaide's Travis Boak.

Ablett was bidding to make the team for a record ninth time.
