On Saturday, Collingwood will become the first club in VFL/AFL history to play 2400 games when it meets Richmond at the MCG.

The figure includes both home and away and finals matches, taking into account every season since the first year of the VFL in 1897.

In their 2399 games, the Magpies have won 1462 matches, lost 911 and drawn 26.

No other club in the history of the game has won more matches (a winning percentage of 61.48).

Collingwood has also played in more finals than any other club (176), winning 77, losing 94 and drawing five.

The next club in line to play 2400 games is Carlton. The Blues have currently played 2360 matches and their 1385 wins is second only to the Magpies.

Of the VFL's eight foundation clubs, only Collingwood, Carlton, Essendon and Geelong hold a winning percentage greater than 50 per cent.

For the record, Collingwood holds a 114-84 win-loss record in its 199 games against Richmond. The two clubs have drawn one game (in round six, 1917).
