Delisted pair Lachlan Keeffe and Josh Thomas had been formally advised in writing they would each receive a two-year ban after pleading guilty to a breach of the AFL Anti-Doping Code.
Samples taken from Keeffe and Thomas on 10 February 2015 tested positive for the presence of clenbuterol - a WADA-prohibited substance.
Both players have accepted the maximum sanction of two years and will be banned from AFL competition until 9 February 2017. They were delisted from Collingwood last week at the list lodgement deadline of 30 October.
Under the operation of the AFL Anti-Doping Code, the players may not play at any level of the game in any recognised competition. Each is able to nominate for the draft and again be selected to be listed by an AFL club, but would not be permitted to train at any AFL club, if selected, until after 9 December 2016.
Under the AFL Anti-Doping Code, a player may return to train with a team or use its club facilities during the shorter of either the last two months of the athlete’s period of ineligibility or the last one quarter of the period of ineligibility.
