A roof on the Melbourne Cricket Ground?
Anything is possible, or so it seems, after the Herald Sun mooted the prospect on Monday morning.
MCC Chief Executive Officer Stephen Gough told the Sun that the ground has technology on its side, and agreed it is something the governing body may look at in the years to come.
Collingwood plays 15 games per year at the home of football, and club captain Scott Pendlebury has played 152 of his 236 senior games at the venue.

“It depends on how long the redevelopment takes to put a roof on it,” Pendlebury told Collingwood Media.
“But I don’t want to not play on the G for 12 months.”
Earlier this year, club President Eddie McGuire floated the idea of building a new $1 billion football stadium next door to the MCG, on the current site of Hisense Arena. And Pendles can see the similarities.
“I think it goes back to Eddie’s plan originally, doesn’t it?
“It’s probably more ammunition for Ed and his idea for creating an indoor stadium over across the road and having the MCG as the mecca.

The AFL first staged matches for premiership points under a roof at the Docklands Stadium in 2000.
