Alex Fasolo has been handed a formal warning from the AFL after being seen urinating in cup on the interchange bench during Friday night’s NAB Challenge match against Geelong.
The unique conditions at Simonds Stadium in Geelong saw the benches situated in front of a large construction site on the wing.
Collingwood’s change rooms sat almost directly opposite the interchange bench, leaving Fasolo no option to cross the ground to use the toilet.
The AFL accepted his explanation that he had no other choice but to cover himself with a towel and discreetly relieve himself in the second quarter of the game.
Having an empty bladder clearly helped Fasolo’s game. The small forward kicked five goals as Collingwood defeated the Cats by eight points.
Despite escaping with a warning, the league made a point that if any other player found themselves in a similar situation in the future, using toilets in Geelong’s VFL change rooms in the Ford Stand would be the most appropriate option.
