The re-signing of Steele Sidebottom, Taylor Adams, Jack Crisp and Adam Oxley adds four key components of Collingwood’s growing list.
All four expressed faith in the direction of the playing group being currently built by coach Nathan Buckley and the club’s list management team headed by Derek Hine.
They are not alone.
Collingwood now has a remarkable 13 players committed to the Magpies until the end of 2018.
They come from a number of different paths. Sidebottom, Scott Pendlebury, Jordan De Goey and Matt Scharenberg are high draft picks who began at the Holden Centre with the highest of expectations.
Crisp, Adams, Adam Treloar, Levi Greenwood and James Aish are players who have chosen Collingwood as a destination in the trade-period.
Darcy Moore is a father-son selection, Brayden Maynard and Tom Langdon were picked in the middle stages of their drafts while Oxley has worked his way from the rookie list to reliable defender.
The 13 of 2018 cover all areas of the ground. The midfield is already stacked with talent, three years before the first drop-punt has even been kicked.
There is still plenty of football to be played before we get there, but here is a snapshot of what Collingwood will look like in 2018.
