Collingwood youngster Tom Phillips and his father, Anthony, are participating in Run India.

Team Phillips is running to help support ultra marathon runner
Samantha Gash, who is running 3,800 kilometres across India over 77 days to help raise awareness and funds to support education of children in disadvantaged areas of India.

During his time in India, Tom, who played six games in his debut season, will be travelling through New Delhi, Agra Taj Mahal, the Ganges River, Varanasi and poverty stricken communities in Kanpur, as well as spending a part of a running day with Samantha.

Tom filed his first report from India over Grand Final weekend:

"It has been a great few days since Dad and I left for India.

On arrival we spent the day touring around New Delhi, and saw some great sights, which was incredible.

We saw the Taj Mahal, which is such an elegant monument. It’s bloody awesome, and we made sure we took plenty of photos.

The following day, we awoke at 4am, which was a little tiring, and went to a community village for a World Vision visit. It was an amazing experience.

We learned some great stories of people’s persistence, and got an understanding at some of the struggles and challenges the community is facing.

Until next time!

- Tom"
