In the middle of summer, with a slight breeze taking the sting out of the February sun, these conditions were perfect.
But don't let the weatherman fool you.
This training session was hot.
Players lined up and fought over and over for first touch and best position.
One kick during a match simulation exercise went high into the centre square. Mason Cox came from one direction, Henry Schade came from the other.
Both collided heavily and hit the ground hard. Spectators and players alike held their breath. But both got up and soldiered on. No harm, no foul.
It was the sort of training session that told you footy's just around the corner.
