If you’re an AFL umpire officiating a game involving Adam Treloar this season – don’t push the star midfielder’s buttons.
Coach Nathan Buckley did recently during match simulation, and hasn’t heard the end of it since.
Speaking with Mark Allen on the first episode of Collingwood Media’s vodcast ‘Sports Galore’, Treloar let his passion be shown on a dodgy umpiring decision at the Holden Centre over the summer.
“I’ve been reliably told that during a training session, Bucks has pinged you for holding the ball and you sooked it up like no one could believe,” Allen prodded Treloar.
“Yeah, it was a joke,” Treloar responded with a grin.
“Browny (rookie Callum Brown) tackled me… He grabbed my arm and I spun around and kicked it at the same time.
“The ball went up in the air. It would have gone 15 metres in the air. He (Buckley) said I spun the full 360 degrees, which I didn’t.
“He goes ‘holding the ball’ and I said ‘you’re f**king kidding me’… Pendles (Scott Pendlebury) was on my team and he goes ‘nah, it was holding the ball’. And then I started arguing with him too.”
Treloar’s passionate, albeit tongue-in-cheek plea for justice came midway through an entertaining first episode of a vodcast made successful in 2016.
