Collingwood will seek five new draftees at the 2019 AFL Women’s Draft.

The event will be held on Tuesday, October 22 in the Victoria Pavilion at the Melbourne Showgrounds, commencing at 10.30am.

The AFLW draft is state-based meaning each player who nominates for the draft shall elect which state they wish to play for. The nomination period for the 2019 NAB AFLW Draft opened on Monday, September 2.

In addition, all AFLW clubs were able to sign Rookie players. Earlier this year, the Pies announced its newest cross-code rookie, Gaelic Footballer, Aishling Sheridan.

AFLW expansion clubs, Gold Coast, Richmond, St Kilda and West Coast will participate in the draft for the first time.

The draft nomination period will close on Friday, September 20.

AFL Head of Women’s Football Nicole Livingstone said it's another exciting opportunity for the young and upcoming talent to shine.

“Eleven players selected in the first-round of the 2018 NAB AFLW Draft went on to make their debuts in 2019 with Madison Prespakis also named the 2019 NAB AFLW Rising Star,” Ms Livingstone said.

“The four expansion teams joining the competition in 2020 will provide a further 120 places for talented young female players from across Australia and I am excited to see what the next generation of players will be able to bring to the competition.”
