Collingwood could have every component of its star-studded midfield assembled for Saturday night's Grand Final rematch against West Coast at the MCG, with Taylor Adams pushing his case to be selected after a pre-season finger injury.
Adams had surgery on a finger tendon injury in late February and wasn't available for the Magpies in the opening two rounds of the season.
However, the inside midfielder stepped up his training at Olympic Park Oval on Tuesday.
Wearing a glove on his left hand, Adams was able to handle the ball without much bother and joined in contact drills with the midfield group.
Adams was clean when grasping the ball and looked explosive in traffic.
The star midfielder will need to do more during Thursday's main session, but there were positive signs during Tuesday's training run.
The 25-year-old, Collingwood's best player in last year's heartbreaking Grand Final loss (he finished second in Norm Smith Medal voting), would add further depth to an onball brigade that is already brimming with talent.
If Adams is passed fit to play, fitting him in alongside Scott Pendlebury, Steele Sidebottom, Dayne Beams, Adam Treloar and the defensive-minded Levi Greenwood will be a challenge for coach Nathan Buckley.
Chris Mayne and Tom Philllips also supply important drive through that area of the ground, while Greenwood has shown in the past that he can also play in defence when required.
Jordan De Goey and Travis Varcoe jogged laps as they were eased through Tuesday's training session, although they are thought not to be in any doubt for Saturday night's blockbuster clash.
Will Hoskin-Elliott (iliotibial band) and draftee Will Kelly (ankle) ran at a decent pace as they continued their rehab work, while veteran Daniel Wells also got some important kilometres under his belt as he eyes a return via the VFL in the next month.
