It's a big weekend for Collingwood v Essendon. The men take on the Bombers at the MCG on Friday night to keep their top 4 chances alive, while the wheelchair footy team play the Bombers this Sunday. It's a must-win game, with Collingwood needing to win by 7 points to advance into another Grand Final.
This is set up to be a cracker, and with both teams eager to take on the Tigers in the Grand Final next weekend, Collingwood will have to play at their best to have a chance at back-to-back Premierships.
The Bombers, who have played well all year and won by 8 points in their previous meeting earlier this year, will also have to be at their best to overcome the Pies.
"It will be on for young and old in this encounter," said captain Brendan Stroud. "The teams are evenly matched. Essendon 'Seagull' Caleb Logan will be a key in their forward line. He is a great player and can swoop on the crumbs in a blink of an eye, and we will have to be on our game to stop him.
"At the other end, stopping our forwards will be their hard part. It won't be an easy one for either team"
The Pies are eager to defend their premiership from 2018 while the Bombers are out to get to their first Grand final appearance. Whatever the outcome there will be no love lost between these two teams.
The game starts at 12pm on Sunday 25th August at the Boroondara Sports Complex.
