As Sir Doug Nicholls Round approaches, Collingwood’s players were on Tuesday hanging off every word of Olympic hurdler and Worimi and Yuin tribe man Kyle Vander Kuyp.
As well as discussing his trips to the Atlanta and Sydney Olympic Games, Vander Kuyp told of how he grew up as an adopted young man unaware of his biological background.
He has since retraced his steps, and now identifies as a proud Aboriginal.
In addition to hearing from Vander Kuyp, players, coaches and staff alike tasted traditional bush tucker from the tribes of Indigenous teammates Travis Varcoe, Daniel Wells and Kayle Kirby.
