Collingwood is poised to anoint a new goal kicking champion for the first time since 2011.
With one round remaining in the 2015 home and away season, Jamie Elliott and Travis Cloke are locked on 34 goals apiece.
Cloke, who has ruled the roost in front of goal for the past four years, is considered unlikely to play against Essendon on Sunday.
It leaves the door ajar for Elliott to break through for the first Copeland Trophy night gong of his career.
The 23-year-old has kicked seven goals in five games against Essendon (and just two behinds).
Elliott’s 34 goals for the season marks a career-high. He has kicked at least one goal in all bar four of his 19 games this year, recording 17 goal assists along the way.
The last time two Collingwood players tied at the top of the club’s goal kicking was in 2002, when Anthony Rocca and Chris Tarrant tied with 38 goals.
Collingwood awards the Gordon Coventry Trophy to the player (or players) who leads the club’s goal kicking at season’s end.
