Collingwood veteran Ben Johnson hasn’t decided if 2012 will be his last AFL season, but says another premiership might help him make his mind up.

The 30-year-old premiership hero who has played 224 games in 12 seasons, and is the second-oldest Magpie behind good mate Chris Tarrant, admits to having given thought to his football future.

“I’ve thought about it a little bit. It’s hard to say,” Johnson told CTV in Arizona.

“I could go through the season, no injuries, feel really good, you know a couple of my best mates will still be playing. So if I feel really good and things are going well, who knows?”

“But if we win the premiership, it’d be a good way to go out.”

Johnson, who has played in five Grand Finals since debuting in 2000 (one victory, one draw, three losses), was a key member of Collingwood’s 2010 flag triumph.

Despite being in the latter stages of his career, Johnson has been training well throughout the first two weeks of Collingwood’s altitude training camp in the USA, and during the latest intensive conditioning session at the Northern Arizona University Skydome he was even leading many of the running groups.

When asked if he’s still capable of being in as good a physical condition as he’s ever been, Johnson’s response was “no doubt”.

“I just think if you don’t get any injuries, you should be fine.”
