The 2024 Toyota AFL Open will be painted in black and white, with 10 Collingwood Wheelchair Magpies selected in the flagship national event for disability inclusion set to take place in November.
The Toyota AFL Open Wheelchair division will become an annual football competition for the nation’s best wheelchair athletes from across the country, providing them the chance to represent their state or territory and showcase their ability and skills to the broader community.
Set to take place for the first time at South Pine Sports Complex in Queensland between November 21stand 26th, the 2024 Toyota AFL Open will see more than 200 players compete for the coveted national title.
Pies’ 2024 Wheelchair Captain Ben Jankovski and forward Anthony Perito will represent the Victoria Metro team, led by Collingwood Wheelchair Coach Andrew Paddle. Paddle will seek to win his third national title for the ‘Big V’ following victories over Victoria Country (2022) and Western Australia (2023) in the Toyota Wheelchair AFL National Championships competition.
Brad Axford and 2024 premiership player Jack Elliott will compete in the Victoria Country team.
The Tasmanian team will see centre player Josh Christan and Martyn Ford compete.
Sam Maraldo and 2024 Community Premiership players Matthew Blunt and Tim O’Connor will represent the RSL Active team.
